A Sixth-Generation Legacy

Miller is a 9-year-old boy whose roots run deep into the soil of Winton, Queensland. His family has worked the land for over a century; if Miller and his brother Harlan continue the tradition, they will be sixth-generation graziers. However, Miller’s journey is uniquely challenged by Level 2 Autism (ASD2), speech impairment, and severe anxiety.

To provide Miller with the support he needs, the family has been forced to split. While John works the station at “Collingwood,” Sheree manages the household in town, recently pivoting to homeschooling to provide the intensive sensory support Miller requires. For a boy who struggles with groups and the “pressure” of social environments, the isolation can be heavy.

In a moving show of support, Ringers Western has stepped up to champion Miller’s journey. By donating and sponsoring Miller with their iconic clothing, they have provided more than just gear; they have given him a sense of identity and belonging. For a boy who dreams of the station but struggles with the world around him, wearing the same gear as his dad and his idols on the land provides a vital boost in confidence. This sponsorship ensures Miller is equipped for the harsh Queensland elements, allowing the family to redirect essential funds toward his ongoing therapies and his Smart Pup goal.

With the support of brands like Ringers Western and the community, the goal is to secure Miller’s “four-legged lifeline” without compromising the family’s multi-generational legacy on the land.

A Smart Pup will provide the anchoring Miller needs to prevent “bolting” when overwhelmed and the deep pressure therapy required to stop self-harm and assist with his chronic insomnia.

When CEO James Salerno about Miller’s journey, he had no hesitation to throwing the weight of Ringers Western behind the family:

“At Ringers Western, our whole ‘stickin’ together’ ethos isn’t just a slogan on a shirt—it’s how we look after our own. When we heard about Miller and the lengths his family were going to, even considering selling off their stock to get him the help he needs, we knew we had to jump in.

Being a sixth-generation grazier in the making is a big deal. We want Miller to feel like a ringer every time he puts his gear on, but more importantly, we want him to be safe. No family should have to sell their livelihood to give their child a fair go. We’re proud to back Miller and his Smart Pup journey, and we’re callin’ on the rest of the community to do the same. Let’s get this little legend his dog.”
